The Fall
I was falling to the ground ontomany rough rocks, knowing I was aboutto hit the ground and get hurt. I had been in Mexico for about a week, and it was fun. I was walking to the kitchen. I had barely woken, and I wasvery tired. I was at my grandparents' house, and they had many roosters. They would wake us all up very early.I was craving some cereal; I walkedinto the kitchen and looked in the cupboardwhere they keptall the sugary foods.Therewere none. I started to get very disappointed when my uncle walked in and said that hewas going to anothertown that was close by.
I said, “Can I go?”I was thinking, here’s my opportunity to get my food. He was hesitant because he knew that I was a very annoying kid, and I literally cried for everything, but he said yes. So, I went to my room to change because I was looking a little gross.
I walked out, and he told me thatwe were going on his horse. I was happy at first because I usedto love horses, and I had been on his horse many times.
I said,“Ok.” We went to the barnin the back of the house, and we went tothe horse we were going to take. I would always run to it and pet it on the side of itsface. My uncle started putting the saddle and the reins on the horse. He helped me to get on the saddle. After he got on, westarted moving. I was just sitting, not really doing anything when he askedme ifI wanted to go see a hill where manywild horses lived. I loved horses, so I said yes.
We had been walking for a while. It took an hour to getto the hill, andbefore we got there, we had to passthrougha fence. When we approached it, my uncle got off to open the gate sowe could pass. That’s when I got a dumb idea. I had never been on a horse by myself, so I didn’t know how they made the horse walk and move around. I grabbed the reins and pulledthem as faras they could go. The next thing I knewthe horse wason its two back legs, and Iwasabout to fall on a bunch of sharp rocks. I fell, and the horse ran off. I hit my head on a rock which made my head start bleeding. At the time, I couldn’t really feel much pain, but when we started walking to find some shadeunder a tree, the pain started increasing. When my parents came to pick us up, they took me to a city nearby wherethey toldme that I was fine, and nothing very serious had happened to me.
I had been at my grandparents' house for a while and my head was hurting really bad. I was thinking, why am I so dumb? Why did I have to pull the reins andmake myselfhaveall this pain? After that, I was kind of scared to get on a horse. Even though it was my fault that I fell, I was scared that it would happen again. I have not been onanother horsesince, but I want to get on horses again. Hopefully the next time I go to Mexico I'll get on one, because I remember how much I loved horses, and I would have fun ridingthem. When I came back, everyone said that I had a bald spot on the back of my head. I don’t know if I still do, butI didthen.
I told this story because I remember it so well that I just had to tell it. It’s kind of funny to me. I like this story so much.I didn’t know what I was doing at the time.
